Best Fatcow Hosting Promotion Ever!
Fatcow is having the best promotion I've ever seen from them: Hosting for 75 cents/month!
This is actually the cheapest website hosting I've seen from any hosting company. It also includes a free domain name, website builder and all the advertising credits (i.e. Google adwords) that come with the regular hosting plan. That means you can set up a website for a year for $9. Not a bad investment, eh?
Here's the link they sent me. The special pricing activates automatically:
The promotion says that it ends June 30th. But like all Fatcow promotions, they will usually extend it for a few days. So expect this promotion to end somewhere around July 7th.

Fatcow June 2013 Promo Code
Fatcow is having a 'secret' promotion for $1.99/month hosting. This promotion is aimed at existing customers, but if existing customers(like me) can refer new customers to access this promotion.
All you need to do is follow this link to the 'secret' page, and enter the promo code: 'WISH'. Then the special pricing will be activated. It's the best Fatcow hosting deal I've seen in a long time. Oh, and it's a limited time promotion: it ends June 30th.
Now, it's going to ask you who referred you. Just enter 'madlovemonkey' as the username. If you do, I get a small referral bonus out of it. Now, if you choose to do it, thank you very much. But there's absolutely no pressure from me.

Fatcow's .org domain sale
Right now Fatcow has a promotion where you can get a .ORG domain for $9.99 per year. I've often thought of getting .ORG versions of my websites (mainly so people don't steal them).
I remember seeing a post on SEOMOZ where they said that a .ORG website will, all things being equal, outrank a .COM website. Google seems to value .ORG's more. It used to be that you had to be a non-profit to get a .ORG domain, but of course nowadays there's no such restriction.
Still, if you want your website to rank better in Google, every little bit helps! Here's the promotion:
Oh and the promotion ends on May 31st. Hurry!

Alternative Website Hosts:
If you don't want to go with Fatcow website hosting, I would recommend two other website hosts that offer similarly priced hosting services:
1. Hostgator
Hostgator has developed a stellar reputation as a quality web hosting company with great uptime stats, ease of use and a great customer support. Website uptime stats put it at near the top of all website hosting companies...not just budget web hosts.
2. Godaddy Hosting
Godaddy takes a lot of heat over it's political positions, but in a purely technical sense it's one of the most reliable and affordable website hosting platforms out there. It definitely loses marks for its clueless customer service, but for the most part Godaddy is a reliable host.

Fatcow Review: One Month In
Well I'm one month in to my post-Godaddy website life. I signed up with Fatcow and got a pretty good deal. It worked out to less than $3/month. I have ten different domain names to transfer over, which didn't cost anything to do (thankfully).

Transferring Over from Godaddy:
Now this was a headache, on Godaddy's part. I've transferred domain names in to Godaddy before, but never out. I found this to be terrible. I even had to call their support center (gulp!) after my requests on their website would idle until they became errors. It's one of those experiences that I can't believe we have to deal with in the age we live in. Oh well. Moving on!Using my Domain Name from Fatcow:
As part of Fatcow's hosting they gave me a free domain name to register. Instead of a variation on a website that I already had (like getting the '.org' version of a '.com' website, I went for something completely different. I've been thinking of making a website that just curates extraordinary images and things. It's just an embryo of an idea at the moment. But I thought getting the domain would be a good first step.A Problem:
I misspelled the domain name (I won't reveal what it is just yet. I'm a little protective of these things when their still in the gestating stage!). Two letters were re-arranged in the middle. It was a stupid mistake. My website about 'extraordinary things' started off with me making an extraordinarily stupid mistake. Changing a domain name you just ordered is not something you can do online, so I called the Fatcow support. And I can tell you, it was a jarring experience. I talked to a live person within 30 seconds. I actually hadn't even collected my thoughts at that point, so I kind of stuttered my way through it a bit. But the lady was nice, relaxed, and even chuckled when I told her the problem. The domain name was changed over. She told me it would take 24 hours. It was Saturday evening and by Sunday afternoon I could see the new correct domain name on my dashboard.Final Summation:
So far, so good for Fatcow. My websites have been up 100% of the time, they took care of this unforseen circumstance. I'd say overall I couldn't have expected much better.Sunday, December 9, 2012

About Fatcow:
Fatcow has actually been around since 1998, which by internet standards is geologically ancient. It has undergone a series of reinventions throughout the years, leading to a new surge in popularity starting in 2008. It's now one of the world's fastest growing hosting companies and shows no signs of slowing down.Originally started in the U.K., it now has servers and tech support in the U.S. and Australia as well.
Signing Up:
Signing up with Fatcow was easy enough (funny how all hosting companies make it real easy for you to give them money!) I used a Fatcow Coupon Code as well as accidentally ending up with Fatcow cutting my price down by 30%. I didn't have my credit card on me, so I clicked 'back' to sign up later. Then a pop up window with Fatcow's 'final offer' popped up: $2.50/month (instead of $3.95). I was like: sweet! Don't mind if I do!Using Fatcow
So far transferring my domains from GoDaddy to Fatcow has been easy. I just tell them that I want to switch it and with one click it happens. I started a new site, and I was able to register the domain, add the domain to my server and install wordpress in under 5 minutes. With Godaddy there was always waiting periods of up to a few hours between each of those steps...which blows if you're really excited about something!Next Comes the Hard Part
So far I haven't had any complaints with Fatcow, as everything has worked like a breeze. They have guaranteed United States tech support, which is important for since I'm not great at understanding accents (I think I'm tone deaf). They also promise to answer your call in under 1 minute, which like I said I haven't tested, but sounds very promising for when I'm in a bind. The biggest problems always seem to happen at inconvenient times.Disclosure: I receive compensation from the companies whose products I promote.
